Leicester: Liz Edman on tour and in conversation with Alison Webster
When: Friday, 01 Sep 2017 7:00PM | Where: St Nicholas Church, St Nicholas Circle, Leicester LE1 4LB
Direct from her appearance at Greenbelt, Liz will be undertaking a short tour of the UK - taking in Brighton, London, Leicester and Oxford. She'll join Alison Webster to talk queer virtue and the good news that LGBTQ people – rather than needing to be redeemed by the Christian faith – have a powerful message for the churches. Alison is the author of Found Wanting: Women, Christianity and Sexuality; her new book Found Out: transgressive faith and sexuality is published in September 2017. It's free to attend and everyone is welcome; there will be light refreshments and an opportunity to make a donation to cover costs.
This year we are delighted to be working in partnership with Greenbelt to bring Episcopalian priest and activist Liz Edman to Greenbelt. Liz is author of Queer Virtue: What LGBTQ People Know About Life and Love and How it can Revitalize Christianity, and her theology is underpinned by the conviction that LGBTQ people are a gift to the church, not a problem to be solved (amen to that!) You can find out more about Liz, and about Glitter+Ash Wednesday, by checking out her website - we're sure you'll appreciate her fresh and unapologetic approach, which comes across powerfully in the short films you'll find there.
