Members express strong support for change at our AGM

Members of LGCM met at the Royal Foundation of Saint Katherine in London for their Annual General Meeting on 27 May 2017 and expressed strong support for the fresh direction and new ways of working which the organsiation has embraced over past months.  As well as voting for a fomal change in the charity's name to OneBodyOneFaith - which we've been using as our working name for some months now - members voted for a change in the charity's objects to formally include gender diversity in our work.  Those changes will now be subject to a precess of approval by the Charity Commission.

The meeting also received the annual accounts, which had been made available to members beforehand and can now be viewed on the Chairty Commission website, and made a number of 'housekeeping' changes to governance, relating to the conduct of meetings and terms of election of trustees.

We said goodbye to a number of trustees, as Savi Hensman, Linda Hurcombe and Graham Knapman retired and Ian Yemm stood down for personal reasons.  They were each thanked for the skills, commitment and wisdom they have broought to our work over a period of particular challenge and change.  In their place, Peter Leonard, Thea Colledge, Luke Dowding and Nigel Nash MBE were elected to the board, bringing new perspectives and experience.

After lunch, we moved up the road to St Botolph's Aldgate for our annual service of thanksgiving.  We were joined by Paul Bayes, Bishop of Liverpool, who gave a particularly moving and thought-provoking sermon which you can read in full, and download, here.

This annual meeting was a wonderful pportunity to mark the passing of another year with friends and to meet and make new ones.  We were especially delighted that our former General Secretery, Richard Kirker, was able to join us, amongst a number of our longstanding members, and that he both proposed the Special Resolution which will change the charity's objects, and spoke warmly in support of the new and unified work we'll be doing as we move forward.  Another very special day on our journey together.
