OneBody welcomes the Ozanne Foundation: distinctive gifts for a shared vision

OneBodyOneFaith welcomes the launch of the Ozanne Foundation: distinctive gifts in pursuit of a shared vision of inclusion and justice for everyone.

OneBodyOneFaith welcomes the launch of the Ozanne Foundation, a new charity to support Jayne Ozanne’s ongoing work towards the full inclusion of LGBT people at every level of the church in the UK and internationally.  Under the leadership of its Chair, Paul Bayes, Bishop of Liverpool, the Foundation has a group of trustees from across church traditions.  With Jayne Ozanne as its Director, the Foundation is committed to working with religious organisations around the world towards the goal we all share – ‘Just Love For All’.

Tracey Byrne, OneBody’s Chief Executive, said, ‘In a short space of time, Jayne has used her personal profile, energy and enthusiasm to achieve tangible change within the Church of England.  She has drawn public attention to the ongoing injustice and discrimination faced by LGBT people.  I have no doubt that the Foundation will sucessfully pursue the resource required to uphold and sustain this important work’.

Today’s announcement rounds off the year in which OneBodyOneFaith was launched.  The renewed and refreshed vision of OneBody brought together two charities with over 60 years’ shared experience in working for change for LGBT inclusion in the church.  A national campaign initiated by OneBody contributed to a Synod defeat for the Church of England’s Bishops in February and has seen major training events for members in the North and South of England.

As a broad-based, ecumenical membership organisation, OneBody will continue to build, empower and energise a grass-roots movement of people, to transform Christian communities at every level.  The charity resources individual members and networks with organisations to enable all to be theologically rooted and confident in our identities, stories and Christian calling as LGBT people and as an LGBT inclusive church.  OneBody is an ecumenical organisation working across the UK.

She went on to say, ‘OneBodyOneFaith looks forward to working with the Ozanne Foundation and our other partners as we each bring our distinctive gifts and perspectives to bear on the church, confident that together we can bring about real transformation and change.’
