OneBodyOneFaith to Host Memorial Service for LGBT+ loss of life and wider experience of harm, following exclusion and mistreatment in church environments

OneBodyOneFaith will be hosting a Memorial Service 2.30pm on Sunday 23rd April, at Hinde Street Methodist Church, London, to commemorate and remember members of the LGBT+ community who have lost their lives to suicide and experienced harm, following exclusion from Christian communities.

The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of faith leaders to LGBT+ loss of life to suicide and wider experience of harm, following exclusion and mistreatment in church environments. This follows many years of work seeking to build safer church environments and more respectful dialogue about LGBT+ people of faith, in partnership with faith leaders.  

The event will provide a structured time of memorial for those who have been lost and those who have been harmed and will also intentionally look forward to more respectful dialogue, as a number of denominations move to a more inclusive environment. 

Pastoral support is being provided on the day by listeners from the Samaritans. Papyrus will also be supporting the event with a dedicated helpline.
